How To Update the
SolidWorks Network License Manager
The SolidWorks license manager now activates over the internet so no longer will you need the hardware lock USB dongle or to get those annoying license files. This video will help you understand the process you will need to go through every year when a new release of the software comes out.

Here is how: *If upgrading to 2011 skips step 3 and 4.*

SERVER: Verify no one is using SolidWorks, then if you still have an old USB dongle unplug it & mail it back to us after you get installed to this latest version.

SERVER: Transfer your license by running Modify and choose Transfer
- SERVER: Uninstall the old SolidWorks network license software
- SERVER: Delete C:\Program Files\SolidWorks SolidNetWork License Manager folder (or where ever it was installed)
- SERVER: Install the new SolidWorks Network License (SNL) software from your new SolidWorks DVD (typically found under "Server Products" section)
- ***SERVER: after installed , you must RUN the SNL manager & follow the prompts to activate the license manager
- (optional) CLIENT: test the old install of SolidWorks to make sure it still runs -- this will verify that the new server manager works there is a proper network connection between the client & the server.
- CLIENT: Upgrade or do a fresh install of the client software to the latest version of SolidWorks -- it is recommended to do a fresh install to keep any old glitches from affecting the new install (ref uninstall PDF)
