Configurations of Tables on SolidWorks Drawings

Do you ever show your design tables on a SolidWorks drawing? Would you like to customize their look easily? Avoid tedious hide/unhide within excel, by creating display configurations!

Here is how:

  1. Create design table as normal with dimensions and suppressions
  2. Insert table into drawing
  3. Create a "Custom View" for the default, maybe "3D Model" with:
    - View->Custom View->Add->(give configuration name)
  4. Hide all rows and columns not needed for desired table
  5. Create a "Custom View" for this table, maybe "Drawing" with:
    - View->Custom View->Add->(give configuration name)
  6. Now any time you want to edit your design table, change to "3D Model View" by:
    - View->Custom View->(3D Model)
  7. And before closing, just change to "Drawing by:
    - View->Custom View->(Drawing)

Bonus:
Use these "Custom Views" to more easily manage large tables that are either long or wide.  Or use to organize a large table by certain areas of the SolidWorks model, such as "Machined" or "Cast".  You can even create a "Custom View" that takes you to a certain cell if needed.
