Witt UK, the Leading Industrial Fan Manufacturer, Are Proud to Announce the Completed Acquisition of Alldays Peacock

(PRWEB) March 8, 2006 -- Witt UK, the Leading Industrial Fan Manufacturer, are proud to announce the completed acquisition of Alldays Peacock.

“  We never hesitate to buy in the knowledge or even buy the company and add it to our product portfolio if necessary.
“The complementary capabilities of the two companies create an offering that will reshape our industry,” Martin Booth, Group CEO, Witt UK. “Our clients will now have access to unmatched, end-to-end integrated products and a much wider choice.”

Witt UK, established over 60years ago has expanded into one of the worlds premier manufacturer of industrial fans and boasts a group annual turnover of around 80m Euros. Alldays Peacock has been established since 1625, it is the oldest registered company in Britain and the sixth oldest in the world. Booth continues: “Bringing together our two organisations will strongly position us to capture an increased share of the market.

The acquisition firmly establishes Witt UK as a market leader with a strong growth outlook. Alldays Peacock will operate from new offices in Weston-Super-Mare, Somerset and will maintain its brand, albeit under the Witt UK banner. Witt UK headquarters are based in Halifax and have recently moved to much larger premises in the Holywell Green site. With manufacturing facilities in Germany, UK and Switzerland, and licensed manufacturing in Canada, Japan, Korea and Indonesia, in addition to a network of agents, the group is able to supply products throughout the world.

The increased product range adds to the Witt Groups’ already impressive portfolio of products. Witt UK offers both tailor-made solutions and standard ‘off-the-shelf’ products. The aim is to provide Fan Systems products on a 4 week turnaround and Alldays is moving to a ‘Just in Time’ philosophy supplying a web based product to meet the varied needs of its customer base. To support this facility the group has project engineering teams using 2-D and 3-D software and a dedicated sales team using a bespoke sales and technical quotation package to suit the various products. Witt Groups’ flexibility, experience and ability to deliver obviously appeals to their broad range of clients, which includes the MOD.

Martin Booth started within Fan Systems as Director General Manager progressing to CEO Witt UK. His role; was to harness the capabilities and enthusiasm of the employees and take the business forward, within 12 months of joining the company he had taken over the rains at PSB UK, which specialises in the supply and design of impulse ventilation for extraction of CO and smoke from tunnels and car parks.

“We have a 65 strong workforce with most employees having been with us for around 25-30 years. We believe in harmonisation and pride ourselves on our approach to our employees; office staff and shop floor workers alike enjoy the same benefits. Over the last few years this has paid dividends and has helped to generate excellent morale across the company.

Fulfilling his title, Booth has ensured that Witt UK has been active on the acquisition front and he is always on the trail for new and more innovative products. Booth concludes: “We never hesitate to buy in the knowledge or even buy the company and add it to our product portfolio if necessary. We can do this because we are a family-owned company, which allows us to literally make decisions within hours rather than weeks or months”.

The manufacturing industry is becoming an increasingly hostile environment to operate in but, despite this Witt UK, part of the German-based Witt Group of companies, has flourished where so many have struggled. 60% of Fan Systems and Alldays product is exported, whilst PSB UK Ltd, as the name suggests, concentrates mainly on the British market and is currently involved in a high profile project at Ascot Racecourse.

Witt UK is focused on meeting the challenges that centre around being able to provide a cheaper product more quickly to the client without losing the quality element. Witt & Son are a third generation company, with the fourth generation coming along. With this experience and the group’s reputation and financial base Witt UK has the solid foundation on which to continue.

Notes:
Witt & Son was established in the late 1940s. The following information provides background history for Fan Systems Group & Alldays Peacock.

Alldays Peacock History:
Alldays Peacock dates back to 1625, making it the oldest registered company in Britain and the sixth oldest in the world. A Midland based family named Onions started the manufacture of bellows from a shed in the shadow of Dudley Castle. In 1650 they moved to Birmingham, a growing industrial centre. By 1866 JC Onions were market leaders, but they didn’t have a monopoly and had to compete with several other firms – the most important competitor being William Allday & Co, another family business which had been established in 1780.

There was a great rivalry between the two companies, however it was perhaps Alldays which maintained an edge over the competitors. After several years of furious competition the two companies merged in 1885 and traded under Allday & Onions Ltd.

In 1969 Alldays merged with a rival fan manufacturer known as JC Peacock (engineers) Ltd. Based in Weston super mare, Peacocks specialised in the manufacturer of small fans as well as high temperature fans between them, the two companies under the name of Alldays Peacock & Co Ltd were able to offer an extensive range of products catering for the needs of industry where the movement of gas or air, whether hot or cold was required.

Fan Systems Group History:
Fan Systems Ltd as established in 1950 by Mr Murphy, Mr Simkins and Mr Vaudrey. They based the company in Piccadilly, Manchester and expanded the business rapidly, supplying industrial fans and drying systems to their numerous customers. Mr Murphy was the MD, Mr Vaudret was involved with the supply of equipment to the glass industry and Mr Simkins took responsibility for supplying fans to the heavy clad industry.

Fan Systems has remained on of the foremost suppliers of fans to the Nuclear industry, other sectors supplied with numerous centrifugal fans were the heavy-clad, ceramic, tobacco and carpet industries (including the famous Dean Clough operation in Halifax).

Several expansions within the company meant Fan Systems moved and upgraded premises on numerous occasions. In 1978, the company moved offices and production to Halifax. In the 1980s production and turnover steadied as the company concentrated on producing specialised fans, this enabled them to survive the recession during the 1990s but the company wasn’t expanding as quickly as directors would have liked. The solution came in 1993 when the Witt Group, one of the world leaders in fan manufacture recognised the untapped potential in Fan Systems and acquired the company.
