Locating the newly-formed Schneider Asia Pacific Ltd. in Hong Kong is a strategically sound decision, according to Schneider Group Managing Director Dr. Josef Staub. "Looking forward, the OEM and industrial business throughout Asia will clearly be driven from Hong Kong," he explained. "China in particular promises very strong growth, and with this new subsidiary we have strengthened our international position as we continue to develop as a global force in the industry."

Schneider Asia Pacific Ltd. Managing Director Dirk Muschert described how the Hong Kong subsidiary will support and grow the sales and sourcing activities of the Schneider Group both locally and regionally, while enabling Schneider to form new partnerships and develop new business areas. "This brings us closer to our existing and future customers throughout the region, and will enable us to better meet their specific needs as the industry's demand for high-quality German optical engineering grows."

In marking the founding of the new subsidiary, Schneider-Kreuznach welcomed the head of the business department of the Chinese Consulate in Frankfurt, Germany, Mr. Zhai Qian, to the company's headquarters in Bad Kreuznach, Germany. According to Mr. Muschert, Schneider Asia Pacific Ltd. plans to found another company in mainland China to further develop the market on a local level.

In addition to its headquarters in Germany, the Schneider Group now holds subsidiaries and majority investments in the United States, the U.K., South Korea and Hong Kong. The Schneider Group's parent company, Jos. Schneider Optische Werke GmbH holds 100 percent of the shares of Schneider Asia Pacific Ltd.
