Numina Group Sponsors 'Green' Innovation

(PRWEB) April 10, 2009 -- Colin Coon, an innovative high school senior from Sarasota Florida, has embarked on a cross country journey to promote "greener living". For his senior project, he retrofitted a 1980 Mercedes diesel station wagon to run on waste vegetable oil. Colin's goal is to travel cross county spreading the word that "any-one and everyone can be green in their daily lives."

Colin recently made a stop at one of his sponsors, the Numina Group, located in Woodridge, Illinois. Dan Hanrahan, president of Numina Group heard about Colin's endeavor and welcomed the opportunity to support his engineering initiative and to encourage environmental responsibility and awareness by all Americans. "Numina Group incorporates responsible use of energy resources when operating our facility and in the design and implementation of the material handling automation systems we provide to our customers" stated Hanrahan. Installing more energy efficient drives and conveyor hardware for distribution automation in order fulfillment and shipping operations is sound engineering; its good for US energy in-dependence, reduces noise and heat in the work place and provides a solid 4-5 year ROI to clients.

Numina Group has standardized, when applicable, to supplying 24 volt DC conveyor design for manufacturing and warehouse automation projects. DC roller driven conveyor runs only when a product is present, reducing energy consumption by over 50% compared to traditional AC motor driver conveyor in many installations. It is a win-win for both the clients bottom-line and the environment. Numina Group, as part of their engineering and design services offers clients an energy consumption analysis on both new operations and retrofit automation projects.

The Numina Group's new office/technology center incorporated energy efficiency into the design. The building was super insulated, energy efficient lighting was installed, it was equipped with high efficiency HVAC and high E rated glass windows were placed to capture solar energy and other green initiatives. As a company, all employees have agreed to turn off lights when natural lighting is sufficient, recycle old batteries, used ink cartridges, pop cans and paper, and to eliminate plastic water bottles and Styrofoam cups. All of these easy steps can be incorporated by all businesses with little effort and no cost. "We ap-plaud the efforts of the next generation of engineers like Colin Coon in raising awareness to the fact that smarter and better use of energy is the responsibility of every American business and individual," ended Hanrahan.
