Leading Heterogeneous Multi-Core Processor IP Vendor, TOPS Systems to Distribute VisualSim Products in Japan and Tim Kerwin Added as Director of Sales for Southern California
(PRWEB) August 28, 2008 -- Mirabilis Design Inc. of Sunnyvale, CA, a provider of systems engineering solutions for performance analysis, architecture exploration and power estimation, has named TOPS Systems as its sole representative in Japan and appointed Tim Kerwin as the Director of Sales for Southern California. TOPS Systems has been using VisualSim from Mirabilis Design in house for multi-core processor design optimization and system specification validation. TOPS Systems will work with Mr. Seiji Miwa, Mirabilis Design's long-time Sales Advisor, in ensuring customer success and highest quality technical support.
We welcome Mr. Tim Kerwin to the Mirabilis Design fold as the Director of Sales for Southern California. Mirabilis Design management has worked in the past with Mr. Kerwin and values his tremendous experience at driving new methodologies successfully within organizations. His long association with major semiconductor and defense contractors in Southern California will greatly expand Mirabilis Design relationships. Mirabilis Design currently has semiconductors and aerospace customers in Southern California.
Current design techniques require greater integration and more functionality at a higher performance level, lower power and reduced cost. Designs addressing these needs have multiple processor and cores, lots of shared hardware and software resources that make the device utilization, response time and bandwidth requirements a non-deterministic task. To ensure the highest product quality, early validation of system specification using VisualSim is mandatory in all design going forward. TOPS Systems has engaged with a number of Japanese companies in the past 10 years for processor IP development and supporting initial architecture optimization.
"We are now fully in the Multi-Core/Many-Core era. It's widely assumed that these chips will be the dominant platforms for servers and client devices. There are, however, many unknowns for the future. It's obvious that as the more processor cores are used, it is more important to address HW/SW system performance", adds Dr. Yukoh Matsumoto, CEO of TOPS Systems Corp. "At the early stage of system development, performance and architecture simulation can be performed with using VisualSim from Mirabilis Design Inc., which assist the Multi-Core/Many-Core developer to address performance issues quickly with minimum effort. We recognize the VisualSim as one of the best tools for Multi-Core and Many-Core architecture."
"With the continuing broadband revolution, Mirabilis Design is uniquely positioned to assist system architects and designers in the development of new applications, products, and protocols", said Mr. Tim Kerwin. "Currently, there is a gap in front end design and VisualSim helps engineers translate ideas into new products. In today's competitive environment it is critical to design it right the first time!"
About TOPS Systems Corp
TOPS Systems provides a wide range of high energy-efficient and scalable Multi-Core solutions with distinct advantages from optimizations through Architecture-Algorithm Co-Design and Hardware-Software Co-Design to System Makers and SoC developers. TOPS Systems and TOPSTREAM™ - based products are used in applications ranging from battery-driven Information Appliances to High Performance Computers faced with the challenge of higher performance and lower power requirements. TOPS Systems provides development teams in Japan a range of services from initial architecture definition and software development through design verification as their extension to reduce total development costs and speed time to market.
About Mirabilis Design
Founded in 2003, and headquartered in Sunnyvale, CA, USA, Mirabilis Design is a leading provider of System-Level Architecture Exploration software for designing electronics and real-time software. Using VisualSim, designers can architect the "right" product, i.e. one which minimizes product failures and has not been over- or under- designed. Mirabilis Design accelerates Concept Engineering by drastically reducing typical model development from months to days and overall project time by 50%. Our customers are focused in computing, semiconductors, networking and aerospace. The end-users are Project Managers, System Architects, Systems Engineers, Hardware Engineers and Software Engineers. Benefits from the solution are a visual executable specification; easier creation of optimized and differentiated products and; corporate infrastructure enabling extremely fast design trade-offs for price, performance and power.
