(PRWEB) March 6, 2006 -- Merrick Engineering, one of the largest manufacturers of closet accessories and hangers in the United States, has met Target’s RFID tagging mandate ahead of sched (under budget) with recently developed software solutions by infoSpring,LLC. Merrick is part of a group of Top 100 vendors asked to participate in a RFID test pilot last year, which was slated to begin at one distribution center and extended company wide as a phased project.

Meeting compliance requires tagging of shipments at the pallet and case level prior to being shipped to Target Distribution Centers. Outbound tags are coded or ‘written’ to contain details about the shipment, which is then ‘read’ as it enters Target facilities. The ability to program tags required RFID readers and writers be integrated with Merrick’s Warehouse Management System from Exact Software.

Integration was facilitated with iRFID, an integration software solution developed by infoSpring which facilitates communication and data transfer to and from the RFID system.

With this system in place, items will be scanned as they enter Target’s warehouses and information will be logged and inventory will be updated. Large retailers are adopting the technology due to vast improvements in labor usage and lowered costs.
