Altimate Systems Signs Partnership with Group 1 Software a Pitney Bowes Company
Altimate Systems Inc., has launched a next generation Document Management System based on their highly robust OpenEDMS software platform. After four years of research and development Altimate has come up with a unique software architecture and solution that rivals Tier 1 competitors in the broad Enterprise Content Management (ECM) market.
Highlighting their accomplishment, Altimate has announced the signing of a multi-year non-exclusive distribution agreement with Group 1 Software, a Pitney Bowes company. Clearly a testimonial to the credibility, quality and value of this next generation Document Management System.
The system has been selected by the California Environmental Protection Agency, Philips Medical Systems, OMERS (Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System) and Aspec Engineering to name a few. Clearly indicating this is a truly scalable and secure Enterprise Content Management solution.
Traditional ECM solutions were developed in the 90's, prior to the explosive growth and adoption of the Internet. These older client -- server systems have evolved into extremely complex and inflexible products, as they've bolted together new functions and added partial Internet capabilities. In fact they themselves have become legacy systems, since there is only so much you can add on to an architecture that is now 10-15 years old!
Typically, just to learn how to use these traditional Enterprise Content Management or Document Management Systems takes one or two weeks of classroom training and much more on-the-job training, resulting in many implementations with poor adoption rates. In contrast, OpenEDMS is built on a familiar intuitive browser interface and straightforward navigation that requires little to almost no training.
OpenEDMS marks a new generation of ECM systems that has been built from the ground up using a modular open architecture for all sub-components including Document Management, Records Management, Workflow Management, Email Management, Security and Desktop Module. This modular structure, as well as providing numerous integration interfaces, results in a system that can be deployed in record time and minimal IT risk.
In 2006 the consolidation process of the ECM market continued and lead to the acquisitions of Hummingbird by Open Text, Captiva by EMC and FileNet by IBM. This leaves many customers wondering what will happen to the support and future evolution for their existing implementations.
