Aerona Software Systems & NEC Computers International Technology Boost for Derry Business

June 19, 2005 -- The highly sophisticated web based system -using leading edge and industry-standard technologies including Oracle, XML and Java - manages the flow and tracking of information between a range of internal and external data sources allowing orders to be placed, fulfilled, invoiced, dispatched and cashed across multiple organisations. For a business with the capacity of NEC Computers International this is a major undertaking, which requires a highly reliable and robust system.

In a recent visit to Derry, Luciana Verda, Consumer Services Division in NEC Computers International commented: We require a good business workflow management system capable of supporting our call centre and web based sales activities. We must be able to create and adapt processes to support and easily change business models without incurring major re-engineering costs. Working with Aerona is a successful partnership because they take the time to really understand the business need. Many supplier - customer relationships are painful & initial sought-after synergies fall down because there is often a lack of real integration. We look forward to continuing the adventure.

For Aerona the contract marks a natural progression in the development of the company, under the joint leadership of Directors Brigeen McElhinney and Niall McGuinness. With a wealth of shared experience in the data processing sector they established Aerona Software Systems in the autumn of 2003 with a vision to deliver high quality system development and maintenance across Europe but based in their native North West. They are confident that their track record in the sector will help to keep Derry on the high technology business map – as Niall McGuinness, Chief Technical Director explained

‘We are proud to be operating out of Derry and promoting local talent and services across Europe. Ireland is already recognised as a centre of excellence in the technology sector, and Derry contributes strongly to that. Blue chip corporate companies recognise the skills and personal qualities that an international approach brings and we envisage that this contract with NEC Computers International will be the catalyst for further developments for us.’

The company is also working on product development to broaden its range of operations and has attracted the support of Invest Northern Ireland for these activities. Brigeen McElhinney, Managing Director, paid tribute to the support that INI have given to the venture.

‘Invest Northern Ireland have shared our vision for Aerona from day one and given us valuable support on practical and financial levels. This support is being channeled directly into the establishment of a development team to work on our expanding range of products and services.’

It is clear that the NEC Computers International contract is viewed by the company very much as a starting point for future development, and they look forward to securing further contracts in the coming months.
